How we grow

Creating an environment where everybody can achieve their potential.

We’re passionate about training & developing our colleagues throughout the business, this ensures our colleagues are always learning & growing in their roles.

One way we develop our colleagues is through apprenticeship qualifications & we have over 20 Apprentices training throughout Dee Set.

Our Apprentices studying through PM Training attended a graduation ceremony held at Staffordshire County Showground where they were congratulated on their achievement & presented with their apprenticeship certificates.

Introducing Clair Worthington, Head of Nutmeg!

From merchandising five hours a week to now being responsible for 1250 Nutmeg Merchandisers, Clair Worthington’s journey to becoming Head of Nutmeg here at Dee Set is as inspirational as it is impressive!

Clair joined our team in 2003 (over 17 years ago!) working five hours per week as a Merchandiser looking after the Pick & Mix section in Asda. Clair had taken a career break to raise her children and picked up merchandising as the flexibility allowed her career to fit around her young family’s lifestyle.

Whilst Dee Set rapidly expanded as we moved into multiple retailers, Clair went from strength to strength taking on more hours, more responsibility and securing several promotions within the team. Clair relished the extra duties she was given and became hungry for even more.

Supporting young people in our community with learning difficulties

Congratulations to Michael Wrench for securing a full time position as a Warehouse Operative with Dee Set in Fenton, after completing a successful placement on NSCG’s Supported Internship Programme.

Michael joined Dee Set on placement in September 2019 and soon settled into the team and working environment. Talking about his internship at Dee Set, Michael said; “It was great starting work for the very first time. I didn’t know anyone, so I was very nervous. My main job was to sort out clip strips and I really enjoyed using a pump truck to move stock around the warehouse. This was the best part about my internship.

Team Growth

We recognise that growing as a team is equally as important as individual growth. We have a program of events to help teams to show their vulnerability and build their trust for each other.

From time to time we like to take our teams away to give them a chance to develop team ways of working and great strategies for the future.

Before lockdown we took the opportunity to take our Nutmeg leadership team on a few days away, take a look at what they got up to whilst they were let loose in the Derbyshire countryside!
