Purpose of the role:

An experienced data professional with commercial flare who is passionate about building scalable data solutions and inspiring others to learn. Experienced at understanding data-driven business insights, communicating their value to senior management and harnessing their power to drive business decisions.

You will be joining an exciting, fun and fast-moving data-driven business, helping to shape our data universe and architecture as we continue to develop our data capabilities. You will be skilled at agile delivery ensuring you deliver value at pace and scale. 

You will lead our data team and work closely with our data engineering, analytics, data science and insight teams to deliver data solutions that generate real business value. You will lead our technical roadmap in order to help us accelerate our Data infrastructure efforts.

Key Objectives:

  • Define, implement, and inspire best practice for data practices and services within your teams and across the Group.
  • Build a strong data capability by providing technical leadership and career development for the Group, establishing a data-driven decision-making culture across the organisation.
  • Work with other senior team members to identify, plan, develop and deliver data services in line with the organisational goals.

  • Work closely with the Head of Business Change to plan, build and implement a commercial strategy for data and develop new product workstreams.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Working closely with the Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, DevOps and backend teams in order to ensure successful delivery of ETL and data projects.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop the data vision, establish strong data governance and provide strategic guidance on developing a data-driven culture across the Group.
  • Build, manage, and develop a team of analysts and data scientists to ensure we implement new, innovative/advanced data science/AI capabilities and utilise wider external data sources.
  • Work with analysts and engineers to model data from across the organisation and build insightful analysis and solutions for senior stakeholders to drive data-driven business change.
  • Provide and present actionable insights to wide range (technical and non-technical) of business stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Build, manage, and promote effective relationships with clients – taking briefs and presenting findings/work.
  • Conduct data audits, data segmentation, statistical modelling, predictive modelling and attribution modelling.
  • Provide mentorship, training and support for the data team and wider organisation.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • A natural leader, comfortable with having commercial conversations and collaborating closely with senior/board-level stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in recruiting and building Data Engineering/ Data Science teams.
  • Comfortable with cloud-based data management environment, including building and maintaining data lakes (e.g. Azure and Snowflake).
  • Previous involvement in the release of new products/platforms.
  • Object Detection, ML, AI tools and models.

Desirable Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in Python, Scala, Spark, Kubernetes.
  • Experience in Cloud Technologies (Azure).


Location is Flexible with occasional travel required.
